Volume
Calculation
Calculate the volume of water in your pool, based on the shape, by using
the formulae:
RECTANGLE
(OR SQUARE):
Length x Width x Average Depth x 7.5 = Gallonage
ROUND/CIRCULAR:
Diameter x Average Depth x 5.9 = Gallonage
OVAL:
Maximum Length x Maximum Width x Average Depth x 5.9 = Gallonage
KIDNEY:
Maximum Length x Maximum Width x Average Depth x 5.9 = Gallonage
"L":
Break the "L" into two separate rectangles (or squares). Use
the formula for a rectangle (or square) for each section. Add the two
sections together.
Length x Width x Average Depth x 7.5 = Gallonage
IRREGULAR: Consult with the pool professionals that built your
pool. If they are out of business, call a local pool professional.
Jot the figure down and keep it in a safe place. It is the foundation
stone for sound pool management.
